Mayhem Music, NiceUp.Org.Nz
& Sounds Almighty proudly present, direct from Germany and reaching
Aotearoa for the first time, Rhythm and Sound (Mark Ernestus) with
Tikiman (Paul St Hilaire)!
With their cutting-edge dub-reggae infused sound, they have
influenced and challenged bass heavy music production the world over
and have helped to shape the evolution of sound.
Mark Ernestus and Mortiz Von Oswald established themselves initially as innovators of techno in the early 90s with their Basic Channel and Chain Reaction labels and releases and also through collaborations with artists such as Jeff Mills and Carl Craig.
Together they evolved as the Rhythm and Sound collective,
developing the dub-reggae bass-lines of their earlier techno work to
create a new sound in dub.
Also featuring long-time
vocal partner, Tikiman (Paul St Hilaire). Born in the Caribbean island
of Dominica, Tikiman began making music as a child, also developing
into a talented vocalist. After performing in bands throughout the
Caribbean, in 2000 while touring through Europe, Tikiman set up his
base in Berlin.
His association with the reggae band, Living Spirits, saw him play to packed out dancehalls and solidified his reputation as a first-class reggae vocalist throughout Germany.
From
here, Tikiman linked with the Rhythm and Sound crew and his flowing
roots-reggae vocals and desire to push the boundaries of bass and sound
led him to forge a partnership that would go from strength to strength
and produce some of the world's most innovative dub.
Don't miss the chance to witness these pioneers of dub-reggae,
here to bring heavy bass-pressure to Aotearoa! Limited $35 (+bf) CHCH
& WGTN presales available from Real Groovy. $45 on the door. AKLD
show price and outlets TBA.
Big up:
