Lacksley Castell - Morning Glory - Negus Roots (1982)
This is quite an album. Lacksley Castell has one of the best voices I've ever heard. 'Leaving' is the breathtaking highlight, it carries the whole album. Deep, deep roots with a touch of lover's rock. On this album, the vocals are cool and smooth. While listening to the track 'Leaving' it is tender. 'Righteous Stand' is strong and the album keeps a pretty good pace, although the first two (even the very first) track(s) dominate.
The music itself, while less immediately striking, is very impressive. The entire album is very atmospheric and maintains a high standard of consistency. 'Cold Winter Night' is a good example. While not as powerful as 'Leaving', this track succeeds in keeping the energy and atmosphere going, feeding off the first two tracks. 'Speak Softly' might be the only track other than 'Leaving' which actually increases the atmosphere rather than successfully maintaining it.
Definitely an album to listen to on any given Sunday.
