Fresh off the long awaited Urban Ethics album released late last year comes Coki with Serious.
Coki, one half of Digital Mystikz makes and produces bass music like no other, taking massive dread-weight basslines, rich and unique melody's and clever beat space subtlety that is unmatched by any other producer within the dubstep realm.
I was first introduced to Coki back in 2006 from the huge DMZ 12" Officer and Mood Dub, both of which express the raw reggae influenced side of Cokis sound. Serious and Old Hope are some of the best Coki tunes I have heard to date and other tunes on the Urban Ethics album like Goblin and It are also simply massive.
Some of the tunes on this album may have been built in 2006 or earlier but they still sound well fresh in 2011 and have that timeless quality. On Serious, Cokis takes the most simple dub elements and layers that have a sense of movement, weight and flow without over complicating the feel.
I strongly recommend checking these tunes out on the Urban Ethics album - best listened on outdoor sound systems.
