Following up on the hugely successful Solo Banton gig, Tahunanui Hi Fi presents hip hop reggae mashup legend, Jstar!
Hailing from West London, DJ and producer Jstar is celebrated for his impressive catalogue of over 200 remixes and releases including Blackstreet, Gang Starr, Busta Rhymes, Major Lazer, Madness, DJ Vadim, Tackhead, Mark Ronson and The Black Seeds. His curated DJ sets can sit anywhere between dancehall, jungle, dub dance or cosmic Balearic disco and funk.
The London sound system, hip hop, rave and Acid Jazz cultures of the late 80’s and 90’s surrounded him and influenced his works, that have since earned praise from industry legends like David Rodigan, Norman Jay, John Peel, Grandmaster Flash, Mixmag, and Don Letts.
Jstar says, “I love to perform with amazing MC’s! Whether it’s a party or club, I’ll play a whole range of genres that relate to the sound system culture of UK”.
