“Political Lies” is a hard-hitting and heartfelt plea to politicians for common sense and basic human decency. As an American, I am hopeful that Kiwi politicians are capable of listening to their constituents, since their counterparts in my country only obey corporate greed and solely support their own egos.
Personal condemnations of modern society aside, this tough roots tune is, to be blunt, truly worthy of your support. There are deep vibes, a conscious mindset, and the type of earnest optimism we all simply must continue to cling to.
Credited to Brutha Rodz featuring CJ Ruka, with production by Israel Starr, “Political Lies” has been simmering since its release in late July. The lyrics speak truth to power, while the hook is both mesmerizing and relatable: “oh we strugglin’; three jobs yeah we jugglin’; no heat in the house so we cuddlin’; but we still stand tall, hands held high, no stumbin’.”
Rumors abound (with video evidence) about a limited 7” release; until you’ve got a copy (and I’m right there with you haha!), check Spotify, Apple Music, etc., and don’t sleep on the instrumental that’s primed for sound system dynamism.
