This is some home-grown reggae from South London. Produced by Senator B of longstanding UK radio station, Vibes FM, for his ‘Blessed B’ music label, Senator has re-called the riddim, ‘Nah Skin Up’. Original heads will know it as ‘Hold Me Baby’ by Basil Daley at Studio 1.
This seems to be the most popular cut on the riddim and is personally my favourite. Cassandra serves up a soulfully heartfelt vocal delivery that oozes warmth and depth, accompanied by solid, clean, yet bass-heavy production/mix riddimwise. This is already taking life on the airwaves and mashing up the more ‘real, grassroots’ reggae venues/clubs. It is definitely built for the forthcoming holiday season while you’re eating your mince pie and drinking Sorrel wine! Some nice and easy vocal reggae fi di season, a so we like it!
The other cuts from top UK vocalists Peter Spence, Mikey McLean, Leroy Simmonds and more, are worth checking out too.
May I take this time to wish all NiceUp fellow contributors and lovers of the site, season’s greetings and a prosperous 2015. See you on the other side! Bless!
