Fee is one of Melbourne’s leading Roots and Reggae DJs, carving out a name for herself in a difficult and male dominated scene.
Although now based in Australia, Fee is originally from Aotearoa and her ten year career began at Palmerston North’s 99.4 FM. It was there, in 1998, she devised and developed a show called Housewife’s Choice, at the tender age of 17. The show quickly developed a following that Fee capitalised on.
Fast forward to 2001 and Fee made the move to Melbourne to further expand her talents. She went on to revive the Housewife’s Choice name when she partnered with fellow selector, Bellyas.
Housewife’s Choice, as a soundsystem, has played alongside a number of international acts including Junior Reid and Spragga Benz. Fee as a solo act has headlined a number of Melbourne nights, while also maintaining a residency at the Croft Institute.
More recently Fee has arranged a monthly dance, Riddim Method, which supports local players and promotes international soundsystems and DJs.
The Welly massive can catch Fee at the next installment of Empress Sounds – Friday 28 March @ Vintage Bar. Respect to Fee for her Top Ten Tracks on high rotation for the month of March 2008.
