On the rare occasion I get a moment to do a mixtape, I generally try and give it a theme, and my latest is no exception.

Spurned on by a summer of speeding tickets, passport issues, and a never ending workload thanks to my own stupid idea of setting up a record label when I already have untold projects on the boil, I’ve selected some of my favourite paranoid, emotive or downright moody dancehall and deejay records for those of you who don’t need your reggae to uplift or soundtrack a BBQ.

This set reflects where my head is at thanks to the horror of corporate reggae takeovers, endless lilting on about carnival shenanigans, and major label reggae travesties. So here’s one I call Deejay Ranting…

1. Clint Eastwood & General Saint – Can’t Take Another World War
2. Laurel & Hardy – You’re Nicked
3. Lone Ranger – The Storm
4. Jacob Miller & DJ Weldon Irie – Keep On Running
5. Josie Wales – Throw Me Corn
6. I-Roy – Killermanjaro
7. Junior Murvin – Badman Posse
8. Clint Eastwood – Watch Yourself Mr Newspaper Man
9. Poet & The Roots – Man Free (For Darcus Howe)
10. Lone Ranger – Quarter Pond Is Hent
11. Tapper Zukie – Pick Up The Rockers
12. Benjamin Zephaniah – Riot In Progress
