P-Vans began making music and cutting dubplates in 2006 in Wellington, establishing himself as a DJ and producer within the emerging sound of New Zealand dubstep.
His productions have roots in dub, UK garage and grime. His music is inspired by sound system, bass and dubplate culture. As a promoter, he has helped to form and shape the Aoteaora dubstep scene, and with the Strictly 138 Crew, brought some of the scene’s pioneers to the country.
P-Vans says “For the mix I wanted to represent tunes from old and new contemporary reggae and dub with strong dubstep and grime influences. It’s straight up dubby vibes in different 138 forms I’ve been feeling for a long time now with some new tunes I just discovered that hold powerful conscious lyrics.”
