Phaze

Phaze has been apart of the Aotearoa music scene for many years, kicking off her career in 2001 in Auckland, where she co-founded Wahine Wednesday nights.

Since then, she has had extensive experience in all parts of the industry, from events to radio and DJing, while also helping to document and preserve our musical history, being involved in initiatives such as the Hip-Hop New Zealand scrapbooks.

In 2004 she founded the Waxed Crew Collective – an all-women DJ crew established to counter a lack a female representation in music – who have recently relocated to Wellington. Her sound encompasses a mixed bag, ranging from Hip-Hop, Reggae, Dancehall and Funk alongside the odd Drum n Bass track.

You can hear her on the airwaves every Thursday, 10-12pm, with her Sugar Shack Show on Munt 88.5FM and catch The Waxed Collective at the up-coming Empress Sounds Session, Friday 23 May @ Vintage Bar.

Big ups to Phaze for her Top Ten for May 2008.
