Civil Disobedience 10″ EP | Peckings
Fresh out of the Pecking’s camp is a 6-track, 10″, featuring Starkey Banton on Earl Cunningham’s classic Jailhouse riddim.
Starkey Banton began his career as a deejay on London sound systems performing under the name Starkey Super. He recorded the singles ‘Lover Dread’, ‘Ganja Baby’, ‘Jungle Bungle’ and ‘Wicked Man’ that led to a spot at the 1995 Sunsplash. He went on to record for Fashion, Mad Professor, and Maximum Sound amongst others. His lyrics always having a strong, conscious message.
More widely known for their relicks of sweet Studio One and Treasure Isle classics, here the Peckings brothers drop a slice of heavy roots. Their update of the Jailhouse riddim, like the original, drops heavy with Starkey Banton providing the conscious vocals.
The EP features 6-cuts, with additional vocal and deejay pieces by Bongo Canny, Baby Boom, Richie Davis and Charmaine, along with a wicked horns cut.
