With the final track off the Summer EP 2020 (and what a summer it has been, especially here in the USA), Just Bee makes a sonic statement about the frenetic, unifying powers of uplifting future bass music.
The Hong Kong-based artist, part of the increasingly influential Unchained Asia crew, has crafted a gem in ‘Mpondo 1957’. The title, presumably a reference to the Xhosa-language LP, is fitting here, as the analog pulls the digital back in time. Well weighted by the drums, there’s a constant feeling of progression: even the lush breakdown triggers a hedonistic call.
The EP, which features four tracks influenced by drum ‘n’ bass, is available via Bandcamp in digital format.
