Last year’s Ouji Riddim from Upsetta Records boasts a strong line-up of JA roots singers, including Busy Signal, Chuck Fenda, Jah Vinci, Luciano, Lutan Fyah, Michael Rose and more. But funnily enough it was the voice of Koffee with ‘Burning’ who jumped out to my ears. I just had to find out who she was!

The confidence in her voice, delivered combination style with Koffee doing both vocal parts, singing the hooks and chanting the verse, instantly demonstrated her range and versatility. One quick check on Google and I was even more impressed to discover Koffee is just 17 years old and this is her debut single.

Hailing from Spanish Town and a member of her high school choir,  she has only recently finished school and begun to focus more on music. The lyrics of ‘Burning’ are uplifting, positive and tell of her own story and journey. Koffee has said she is passionate about spreading positivity and good vibes to make a better world for the coming generation. If this debut single is any measure, I’d expect to hear plenty more from Koffee in the future.
