Messenjah is the Dubwize selector and producer. He has been DJing reggae and dancehall music throughout New Zealand and Australia for over ten years.

Heavily influenced by Haile Selassie I Rastafari, Messenjah is on a mission to promote conscious reggae music. He hosts the only reggae show in Christchurch – The Dubwize Show – every Sunday, 5-7pm on RDU 98.5fm.

In 2000, Messenjah and Ruffian formed Dubwize Soundsystem and Messenjah soon took over as sole selector and producer. He has since produced two albums for Dubwize. The first, To The Control Tower (2002, Festival Mushroom Records), a collaboration with Christchurch producer – Confucius. And the follow-up, Reality Chant (2003, FMR), both albums released to acclaim.

The third Dubwize album featuring Snypa Levi is in the final stages of production and is due for release in early 2008, with guest appearances from Jah Mason, Raggadon and Tuff Enchant.

Messenjah is also involved in other projects including contributing tracks to the upcoming One World album from Raggadon (Eskimo Squad, UK) soon to be released in the UK, Caribbean and NZ, and singles for Zimbabwean artist, Iyah Fari.

He is also currently working on a major project called the Country Living Riddim with Snypa Levi and top-ranking Jamaican artists – Chrisinti, Jah Mason and Ginjah. All versions will initially be released internationally as limited edition 7″ vinyl and will be a first for New Zealand reggae music, with multiple heavyweight Jamaican artists riding a NZ produced One-Drop riddim.

With so much material about to be released, Messenjah is poised to launch into the international reggae market as one of NZs hottest Reggae producers.
