Steve the Hat is a Wellington DJ with three decades experience as a club and sound system selector. After DJing at seminal Wellington clubs, Claires and Naked Angel, he has spent the last twenty years based in London, before returning to New Zealand in 2012.
Recently in the UK Revive scene he has guested on Downbeat Melody Sound, and played at long-running nights such as Tighten Up, as well as classic venues including Albertines in Deptford and Cosies in Bristol.
Steve plays the full range of Jamaican music from Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae and Roots through to Dancehall and Bashment, as well Soul, Funk, Latin, Jazz, Hip Hop and RnB. His only rule is that it is on vinyl 45.
