A firm nudge in the right direction of funk, soul, jazz and hip-hop graces this 7″. It’s a kiwi classic and sublime vinyl goodness.
From the Crates Records (FTC004) enlisted the help of Aotearoa’s finest heads in 2006. The track features Jeremy Toy, Julien Dyne, Lewis McCallum and Tyra Hammond. It’s mastered by Dave Cooley, produced by Julien Dyne and mixed and produced by Ota. The results speak for themselves.
I could listen to this sweet lullaby a million times and still want more. Tyra’s warm, golden vocals come in late in the track, gracing you with an uplifting message, guaranteed to warm even the coldest heart. This is a track that is doing just fine nearly 20 years after it’s completion.
On the flip which is the A Side, is “Rise Up Pt.1”. This tune is busier, with an uptempo instrumental and an almost carnival like feel. Both songs are also featured on the Opensoul’s brilliant 2006 LP release, Kaleidoscope (FTC003).
