DJ Substance has been on the grind in the New Zealand hip-hop scene for many years now.
Based in Auckland city, he is the DJ for the Breakin’ Wreckword record label and has completed national and international tours with Cyphanetik, R.E.S., Usual Suspects, Ethical and Tourettes. He is also the tour DJ for Young Sid and Ethical, and works with the Homebrew crew.
Substance hosts the long-standing Urbanology radio show – uncensored, unrehearsed and underground – Urbanology broadcasts on George FM, Tuesday nights from 10pm. He also promoted and ran a longstanding night in Auckland, under the same name.
Substance has played host DJ for a number of international touring acts including Slum Village, Phat Kat, J-Live, DJ Rectangle, Blu, Kool Keith, Tim Dog, Rodney P, Blackalicious and People Under The Stairs.
