Ali T began running sound systems in Scotland over 10 years ago. Always focused on reggae and bass music, he was a regular at the Mungo’s Hi Fi ‘Walk and Skank’ night in Glasgow and on the festival circuit.
Ali then moved to New Zealand and built Wakamana Sound System alongside musical collaborator, Cai. In the last few years he has been pushing Wakamana forward, running sessions across the South Island, hosting a bi-weekly radio show on Drop FM and playing various venues and festivals as DJ Wakamana.
Ali says, “I wanted this mix to represent sound system culture in New Zealand, so I decided to roll straight dubplates. I want to big up all artists that contributed and NiceUp for the opportunity. Run it!”
