Warrior Queen is a multi-talented vocalist and writer whose work spans over years and genres including reggae, dancehall, dubstep and grime.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Warrior Queen’s childhood years were filled with music, with her uncle running a sound system and a record store. She began selecting on the sound system and while playing the flip-side of the records she began to chat. Her talent was soon recognised and she started chatting frequently at dances around Jamaica.
From here she quickly elevated to releasing dancehall tracks on the Penthouse label and went on to work with Philip ‘Fattis’ Burrel, Steelie and Cleevie, Flabba Holt and Roots Radics.
Upon relocating to the UK, Warrior Queen became in-demand with her heavy vocal styles and she has since worked with DJ Zinc, Casual Records, Skream, The Bug, Kode9, DJ Zinc, Soul Jazz, Hyperdub and many more. She has also toured the USA, Canada and throughout Europe and Australasia and has most recently been gigging with Mungo’s Hi Fi and The Heatwave Crew.
Warrior Queen now spends her time between Jamaica and the UK where she brings killer vibes to every session. Watch out for her upcoming collaborations and releases in the next part of 2010.
