Art Official has been a key player in the Wellington reggae, dancehall and hip-hop scenes for many years.
He runs Newtown Sound and produces, promotes and interviews local, national and international artists. He is an experienced DJ and musician and applies his diverse musical skills and abilities to various bands and collaborations around Wellington.
Art is a founding member of one of the country’s premier sounds, Yardwise, and he has worked with Aotearoa’s best artists (including The Mighty Asterix, Tuffy Culture, The Roots Foundation, Sounds Almighty, Jafa Mafia, Champion Sounds, Ruffneck Souljah) and at the best events (including The Newtown Festival, Ghetto Red Hot, The Cuba Street Carnival, Inna Yardwise Sessions). He is also a founding member of the NiceUp Crew.
Well known for bringing crucial and heavyweight selections to the massive, you can catch Art DJ’ing at Radio Active 89FM on the Roots and Culture Show, The Homebass Show and on the Thursday Flow, plus at all the local hotspots around town.
