Based in Auckland city and influenced by Jamaican recording artists, Nico ‘Jah Red Lion’ Reyne is a reggae singer with a conscious message, combining high melodies full of soul with huge stage presence.
Jah Red Lion was born in the small town of Lampa just out of Santiago, Chile. At the age of seventeen he started to frequent local reggae parties where he started to learn about the philosophy, lifestyle and music of Rasta.
In 2009 he recorded his debut EP, Remember, at Luckyday Studios, featuring three tunes in Spanish using current Jamaican riddims.
At the beginning of 2010 he traveled to NZ to showcase his music and develop his English. Since his arrival he has been busy touring the country and recording another series of tunes and dubplates with local producers, DJs and sound systems, including Iron Will aka Willi The Kid, Reality Chant (Messenjah), Art Official, Jafa Mafia, DJ Lock Steady and more.
Keep a look out for his soon to be released next EP, produced by Riddim Central and Reality Chant Productions, featuring the ‘Iron Hammers’ band.
