The Echo Chamber x Run It Red compilation, focused on dubwise, jungle, and amen-laden sonics in between, comes in deep and allows for ample exploration throughout its seventeen tracks. A seemingly logical continuation of the 2019 release Run It Red 001, artists LQ & Midnight Dubs do again feature prominently here. This time though, they are joined by RQ, Relative, Time Travel, Pugilist & Tamen, Tactical Aspect, X Nation, and Ikaros, plus remixes from RSD and mshcode.

RSD starts out the album in a Bristol style, taking on LQ’s “Crown The King” to craft a crunchy bass-led groove. Then LQ & Midnight Dubs link up for several collaborations, including the wobbly “Sound Get Mash Up” and the rolling “DX Steppa.”

Soon the other contributors come in force, pulling the vibes from the dubstep side of the bass spectrum over to drum ‘n’ bass, beginning with RQ’s “Seasons.” That tune fits in some jazzy atmosphere (and some throwback house vocals) among the high-powered percussion, before Relative plays in somewhat similar territory on “Baddest.” “Mirage,” also from RQ, gets a bit more hectic, while “Ghost Note” by Time Travel really unloads on the low-end.

“Tommy’s Nightmare,” by Tactical Aspect, conjures up street protests against authoritarianism, a heavy ode to our heavy times, it seems. X Nation somehow lightens the mood with “Toughest,” combining an effect-laden reggae vocal sample along with a potent bass line to then set off the clattering drums.

Wrapping up with some heavy cuts, including a Ben Dudding feature by LQ called “Way Down,” that throbs and pulses. Then Ikaros’ “Space Junk” makes a nice mark as the finale: deep and tense, the instrumental builds up and down throughout.
